Conditions were not exactly ideal, with a drop in temperature the night before, bites were always hard to come by. Most anglers opted for the feeder and were rewarded with a few bites. With a few fish coming out from most pegs it was hard to determine who had the upper hand.

After a couple of hours it became clearer which way the match was swinging. Ian Copeland (the Doc.) started to put some fish together along with Bill Christmas and Dave Sims. However the match proved to be a straight battle between the pole of John Gamby and the feeder-rod of Maurice Brown.

The weigh-in proved just how tight this contest was with John Gamby just winning by a couple of pounds. One more fish by Maurice may well have swung the verdict his way.

The prize giving was held at the Huntsman pub at Corbets-Tey where everyone received a prize. The Alf Crowther Trophy was presented to winner John.
